Over a long, long time, these instruments changed and got better. The guitar as we know it started to take shape in Spain many, many years ago. It was like a puzzle, with different ideas coming together to make the perfect musical instrument we love today.

You can hear guitars in almost every kind of music, from rock and pop to country and blues. They can be loud and powerful, or soft and gentle. Playing a guitar can make you feel happy, excited, or even a little bit sad, all through the music you create.

It's like a secret code! When you press down on the strings on the long neck (called the fretboard), you change how long the string can wiggle. Then, when you pluck or strum, the string vibrates. These vibrations travel through the wooden body of the guitar, making it louder. The sound comes out of a special hole, like a little mouth singing! Different strings make different notes.
