Gordian III

Gordian III was a Roman emperor, which means he was like the super-important leader of the Roman Empire a super long time ago. He became emperor when he was only 13 years old! That's younger than most kids in middle school. He was the second-youngest person ever to be the sole ruler of the whole Roman Empire. He was born in the year 225. Even though he was so young, he had a very big job to do.

Gordian III's mom was Maecia Faustina, and his dad was named Junius Balbus. His mom was super special because her dad was Emperor Gordian I, and her brother was Emperor Gordian II! So, being an emperor kind of ran in his family. Not much is known about what Gordian III did before he became emperor, but we know he came from a family that was used to being in charge of the huge Roman world.

Even though he was so young, Gordian III was the boss of a massive empire that stretched across many countries. Being emperor meant he made important decisions about laws, armies, and how people lived. It's like being the principal of a school that covers the whole world!

His short time as emperor was a part of a really interesting and sometimes confusing time in Roman history, with lots of different emperors coming and going.

Gordian III ruled the Roman Empire from 238 to 244. That's only about 6 years! He was emperor until he was about 19 years old. Sadly, he died when he was still very young. His time as emperor was during a period called the Crisis of the Third Century, which was a bit like a bumpy rollercoaster for the Roman Empire. Even though his time was short, he was still a very important figure in history.
