General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam is like the captain of a super important team called the Communist Party. This person is in charge of making big decisions for Vietnam. The job of General Secretary started a long time ago. The very first person to have this title was named Trần Phú. Sadly, he was put in prison by the French and died there. Many leaders after him also faced tough times. Some were even arrested or had to lead the party when things were very difficult.

Over the years, many people have been General Secretary. Some were like builders of the country's future, and others were like brave commanders. One leader named Lê Duẩn was in charge for a very long time, from 1969 until 1986. He was the main leader for many years, guiding Vietnam through important times.
