What's So Fresh About This Water?

Fresh water is like the plain water you drink, not salty like the ocean! It's found in rivers, lakes, and even in ice. It's super important because most living things, like you, your dog, and the trees outside, need it to live. Without fresh water, plants wouldn't grow, and animals wouldn't have anything to drink. It's like the Earth's special juice that keeps everything alive and happy!

Where Does This Water Come From?

Fresh water starts its journey as rain or snow falling from the sky. This water then flows into rivers and lakes, or soaks into the ground. Sometimes, it gets frozen into big ice cubes called glaciers or icebergs. It's all part of a big circle called the water cycle, where water goes up into the sky and then falls back down again, ready to be used!

Why We Need Every Drop!

Did you know that only a tiny, tiny bit of all the water on Earth is fresh water? Most of it is salty ocean water. And a lot of the fresh water is frozen in icy places like Antarctica! This means the water we can easily use is super precious. We need to be careful with it because it helps grow our food and keeps us healthy.

Water's Amazing Jobs!

Fresh water does so many cool jobs! It helps plants grow tall and strong, gives fish a place to swim, and is what we drink to stay alive. Even though it seems like there's a lot of water, we only have a little bit that's easy to get. So, it's important to save water and not waste it, so there's enough for everyone and everything!
