Françoise d'Aubigné, Marquise de Maintenon

Imagine a woman named Françoise who lived a long, long time ago in France. She wasn't born rich, but she was very smart and kind. She became friends with the King of France, Louis XIV, and he liked her so much that he secretly married her!

Even though she wasn't a queen with a crown, she was like a secret queen because the King listened to her advice. She was also in charge of taking care of the King's children, making sure they learned and grew up well.

Françoise first married a writer named Paul Scarron. After he passed away, she met the King's mistress, Madame de Montespan. The King asked Françoise to look after his children, and she did such a good job!

Françoise lived a very long life, from 1635 to 1719. That's 83 years! She was known for being very religious and kind. Her influence on King Louis XIV made him think more about his faith. After the King passed away, she went to live at the school she created and spent her final years there. She was a remarkable woman who used her cleverness and kindness to make a big difference in France.
