Key Facts
Where is This Tropical Paradise?
Fiji is a bunch of islands way out in the big South Pacific Ocean, far away from places like New Zealand. It's so big that it has more than 330 islands! That's like having a new island to visit every day for almost a whole year! Most of the people live on just two big islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. The water is warm and perfect for swimming and playing.
Islands Born from Fire!
Did you know that most of Fiji's islands were made by volcanoes a super, super long time ago? Imagine giant explosions pushing land up from the bottom of the ocean! Some places still have hot springs where the ground is warm, like a natural bathtub. It’s like the Earth is still a little bit warm from when it was made.
Who Lives in Fiji?
People have lived in Fiji for thousands of years! First, people came by boat from far away, and later, others arrived too. Europeans first saw Fiji a long, long time ago, around when your great-great-great-great-grandparents were little. Now, Fiji is a country where people have their own government and make their own rules.
What Do Fijians Do?
Fiji has amazing natural treasures like forests, shiny minerals, and lots of fish. Many people work in jobs that help visitors have fun, like in hotels and restaurants. Others grow sugar cane, which is a sweet plant. They even sell yummy bottled water to other countries! It’s like a big team working together to make Fiji a great place.
