A Nurse Who Cared for All!

Imagine a super kind nurse named Edith Cavell. She lived a long time ago and was famous for being very brave. During a big war called World War I, she didn't just help her own country's soldiers. She helped soldiers from both sides, no matter who they were fighting for. She believed everyone deserved care when they were hurt. She was like a superhero of kindness!

Helping Soldiers Escape Danger!

Edith wasn't just a nurse; she was also a secret helper! When her country was occupied by enemy soldiers, she helped about 200 Allied soldiers escape. These soldiers were trying to get home safely. Edith helped them hide and find ways to leave the dangerous area. It was a very risky job, but she was determined to help them.

A Very Sad Ending, But a Brave Heart

Sadly, Edith was caught helping the soldiers escape. The enemy soldiers were very angry and put her on trial. Even though many people asked them to be kind, they decided to punish her.

Edith was shot by a firing squad. But before she passed away, she said something very important: 'Patriotism is not enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness towards anyone.' This shows how much she believed in kindness.

Remembering Edith's Kindness

Even though Edith Cavell is no longer with us, people remember her for her bravery and kindness. There's a special statue of her in London, England, where her famous words are written. She showed the world that helping others is the most important thing, and that we should never hate anyone. Her story teaches us to be compassionate and brave.
