Helping Soldiers Escape Danger!
Edith wasn't just a nurse; she was also a secret helper! When her country was occupied by enemy soldiers, she helped about 200 Allied soldiers escape. These soldiers were trying to get home safely. Edith helped them hide and find ways to leave the dangerous area. It was a very risky job, but she was determined to help them.
A Very Sad Ending, But a Brave Heart
Sadly, Edith was caught helping the soldiers escape. The enemy soldiers were very angry and put her on trial. Even though many people asked them to be kind, they decided to punish her.
