Dick Goddard

Imagine someone who looked at the sky every single day for your whole life, and even before you were born! That was Dick Goddard. He was a special kind of scientist called a meteorologist. His job was to figure out if it would be sunny, rainy, snowy, or windy. He worked on TV in Cleveland, Ohio, and lots of people loved watching him tell them about the weather.

Dick Goddard loved his job so much that he did it for a really, really long time. He started in 1966 and kept going until 2016. That’s 50 whole years! He even has a special award from the Guinness World Records for being a weather forecaster for the longest time ever. That's longer than you've been in school, and longer than your parents have been grown-ups!

Besides being a weather expert, Dick Goddard was also a super talented artist! He drew cartoons and wrote books. But he also loved animals very much. He spent time helping animals and making sure they were safe and happy. So, he wasn't just a weather man, he was a friend to the sky and a friend to animals too!

Dick Goddard made learning about the weather fun for everyone. He showed us that you can be good at many different things, like science, art, and helping others. His long career means he was really dedicated to his job and to the people who watched him. He’s an inspiration to keep learning and caring about the world around us.
