Deftones: The Band That Rocks!

Imagine a group of friends who love to make music so much they decided to form a band! That's Deftones! They started way back in 1988 in a city called Sacramento, California.

The main guys who started it all were Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, and Abe Cunningham. They loved playing music together and wanted to share it with everyone. It's like when you and your friends build an awesome fort together, but instead, they built amazing songs!

Deftones didn't become famous overnight. They practiced and played their music for lots of people. They even got a special deal to record their songs!

Their first album was called 'Adrenaline,' and it got people talking. Then came 'Around the Fur,' which was so popular it became platinum, like winning a super-duper gold medal for music! They kept making more music, and people loved their unique sound.

Deftones' music is special because it can sound both super energetic and also really gentle. They can go from loud, exciting parts to softer, more thoughtful parts, all in one song! It's like riding a roller coaster that goes up super high and then swoops down smoothly. Their song 'Elite' even won a big award called a Grammy! That's like winning the biggest trophy in music!

Sadly, one of the band members, Chi Cheng, had a really bad accident. He was in a coma for a long time and later passed away. The band kept going, though, and they even made a special album to honor him. They also brought in new friends to play with them. Deftones shows us that even when things are tough, music can help us remember friends and keep going strong.
