Hello Sunshine!

Daytime is the super bright part of the day when the Sun is up in the sky. It’s like a giant flashlight that lights up our whole planet, Earth! When the Sun is shining on your side of the Earth, you get daytime. This is when we can see everything around us, play outside, and go to school. It’s the time when the world is awake and busy!

When the Sun Says Hello

Daytime happens because our Earth is always spinning, like a giant merry-go-round. As Earth spins, different parts of it face towards the Sun. When your part of Earth is facing the Sun, it’s daytime! When it turns away from the Sun, it becomes nighttime. This spinning is what gives us both day and night, every single day.

Why Daytime is Awesome!

Daytime is super important because it gives us light to see! Plants need sunlight to grow, and we need to see to do all sorts of things, like reading, playing games, and even finding our way around. Without daytime, everything would be dark and it would be hard to do anything. It’s when all the fun happens!

Shadow Play!

Did you know you can tell the time during the day by watching shadows? When the Sun is high in the sky, shadows are short. As the Sun moves lower, shadows get longer. Old-fashioned clocks called sundials used this trick! They had a stick that cast a shadow, and as the shadow moved, it showed what time it was.
