CR Flamengo

Imagine a super-duper popular sports team in Brazil called CR Flamengo! It's like the most popular kid on the playground, but for sports! This team is so loved, more people cheer for them than for any other team in Brazil.

They are famous for their awesome football (soccer) team, but they also started as a rowing club, like racing boats on the water! Their colors are bright red and black stripes, like a superhero's costume!

Flamengo wasn't always about kicking a ball. It all began way back in 1895, when people wanted to race boats! That's over 100 years ago! It took them a while to start playing football, not until 1912. Think of it like learning to ride a bike before you start playing tag. They play their home games in a HUGE stadium called Maracanã, which is so big it can hold more people than a whole town!

Did you know Flamengo has a special mascot? It's a vulture, which they call an 'urubu' in Portuguese! This might sound a little strange, but it's their symbol of strength. Many famous football stars, like Zico and Vinícius Júnior, learned to play there. They are so good that they even play for the Brazil national team and have won big awards, like being the best player in the whole World Cup!
