Who Built This Amazing Place?
This courtyard wasn't built all at once. It started a long, long time ago, around 700 years ago, by a sultan named Isma'il I. Later, other sultans, Yusuf I and Muhammad V, made it even more amazing. Think of it like adding new rooms to your house or decorating it for a special party. They wanted it to be the most beautiful and important part of their palace, a place fit for royalty.
Why Is It So Cool?
The Court of the Myrtles is famous because it’s so beautiful and peaceful. The long pool of water is like a mirror, showing you the sky and the fancy arches around it. It’s a place where important decisions were made and where the sultans could enjoy the sunshine and the quiet. It’s like the heart of the palace, where everything important happened. What's Inside This Royal Spot?
The most amazing thing about the Court of the Myrtles is the long, calm pool of water. It’s surrounded by walls with pretty arches and little rooms. There are also myrtle bushes, which are small, leafy plants that smell nice.
This courtyard is part of a bigger palace called the Comares Palace, which was a very important part of the Alhambra castle complex. It was a place for the sultan to live and rule from.
