Climate movement
Key Facts
What's a Climate Movement?
Imagine a big team of friends who all want to make sure our Earth stays super healthy. That's kind of like the climate movement! It's when lots of people, like kids and grown-ups, work together to tell leaders and big companies that we need to take care of our planet.
They want everyone to help stop things that make the Earth too warm, like pollution from cars and factories. It's like a giant group hug for our planet!
When Did This Big Team Start?
This big team started getting serious a long, long time ago, even before many of your parents were born! People started talking about how to protect our planet back in the 1980s and 1990s. They wanted to talk to important people at the United Nations, which is like a big world meeting.
The team got even bigger and louder around 2009 and then again in 2016 when many countries made a promise to help the Earth.
Why Are They Doing This?
They are doing this because our Earth is like our home, and we need to keep it clean and safe for everyone. When the Earth gets too warm, it can cause big problems like melting ice, stronger storms, and making it hard for animals to find food. The climate movement wants to make sure we have a beautiful planet for you to play on and for future kids to enjoy too.
It's about making sure our home is happy and healthy!
How Do They Help?
This big team uses lots of different ways to help! Sometimes they have huge marches, like a parade for the planet, where thousands of people walk together. Kids have even started special 'strikes' from school to show how important this is.
They also talk to leaders and write letters. It's all about making sure everyone knows that taking care of our climate is super important and needs to happen now!
