Chris Van Hollen

Chris Van Hollen is a grown-up who works in a very important job called a United States Senator. He's been working hard for many years to help people in his state and in the whole country.

Before becoming a Senator, Chris Van Hollen was like a helper in a different kind of school, called the House of Representatives. He was there for a long time, from 2003 to 2017! That's longer than you've been in school! He also worked in a state government before that. It's like he started by helping his local neighborhood and then grew to help the whole country.

One of the coolest things Chris Van Hollen did was help lead a team that picked people to be in charge of making new laws. He was like the captain of a team trying to get more players on their side to make good things happen. He also helped with something called the 'Budget Committee,' which is like deciding how to spend allowance money for the whole country. It's a very big job!

Chris Van Hollen is a Senator for the state of Maryland. Think of Maryland as a big neighborhood, and he's like the mayor for that neighborhood, but even bigger! He was chosen by the people of Maryland to be their voice in a very important place called the Senate. He was so good at his job that people voted for him again and again!
