Cast Away: Alone on an Island!

Chuck Noland is a super busy guy who works for FedEx, a company that delivers packages super fast! But one day, his plane crashes over a giant ocean. He wakes up all alone on a beautiful, but empty, island. He has to figure out how to find food, make a fire, and most importantly, how to survive until someone finds him. It’s like a super tough camping trip that lasts for years!

Being alone for so long is super hard. Chuck misses his friends and family. So, he finds a volleyball and draws a face on it with his own blood! He names him Wilson. Wilson becomes his best friend and he talks to him all the time. It’s a little sad, but it shows how much Chuck needs someone to talk to. Imagine having a toy as your only friend for years!

This movie, Cast Away, came out in the year 2000. It took a really long time to film because the actor, Tom Hanks, had to look like he’d been on the island for a long, long time. He even gained weight and then lost a lot of it! The movie was filmed in different places to make it look like a real deserted island. It made over $429 million dollars, which is a LOT of money!

The movie is all about Chuck trying to survive and find a way back home. He builds rafts and looks for ships. It’s a story about never giving up, even when things are really, really tough.
