Canis Minor

Imagine a tiny dog in the sky! That's Canis Minor, one of the smallest star pictures we can see. It's not a real dog, of course, but a pattern of stars that people have imagined for a very, very long time. Even though it's small, it has a super special star called Sirius, which is the brightest star in our whole night sky. It's like the star of the show!

Long, long ago, people looked up at the stars and saw shapes. They thought Canis Minor looked like a little dog, maybe a hunting dog following a bigger dog (that's Canis Major!). Ancient Greeks and Romans saw these stars and gave them names.
