Camp Fire (2018)

One morning in November 2018, a huge fire started in Northern California. It was called the Camp Fire, and it grew super fast! Strong winds pushed the flames through forests and right into towns. It was like a giant monster breathing fire, gobbling up everything in its path. The sky turned a spooky orange color because of all the smoke.

The Camp Fire was so powerful that it destroyed whole towns, like Paradise and Concow. Imagine your whole school and all the houses on your street disappearing! More than 18,000 buildings were lost. People had to leave their homes very quickly, taking only what they could carry. It was a very sad time for many families.

This fire was HUGE! It burned an area of land that was 153,336 acres. That's bigger than 200,000 football fields put together! It took two whole weeks for firefighters to finally stop the fire. They worked super hard, but the wind made it very difficult. It was one of the biggest fires California had ever seen.

The Camp Fire taught everyone how important it is to take care of our forests and our power lines. Sometimes, things that help us, like electricity, can also cause problems if they are not safe. This fire made people think about how to prevent fires like this from happening again and how to help the people who lost their homes.
