Meet the Amazing Butterfly!

Butterflies are like tiny, flying flowers! They have big, colorful wings that help them fly from flower to flower. They are insects, which means they have six legs and a body with three parts: a head, a chest, and a tummy. When they fly, they look like they are dancing in the air! They are super important because they help plants grow by moving pollen around.

Where Do Butterflies Live?

Butterflies love warm places all over the world! You can find them in sunny gardens, big green fields, and even in forests. They especially love places with lots of flowers because that's where they find their yummy food. Some butterflies travel very, very far, like a super long road trip, to find warmer weather when it gets cold.

What's for Lunch?

Butterflies are not picky eaters! They love to sip sweet juice, called nectar, from flowers using a long, straw-like tongue called a proboscis. Imagine drinking your juice through a super long straw! This nectar gives them energy to fly and explore. Some butterflies also like to sip from muddy puddles to get important minerals.

From Crawly Caterpillar to Flying Beauty!

Butterflies have a magical life change called metamorphosis. First, they are tiny eggs, then they hatch into hungry caterpillars that munch on leaves. After growing big, the caterpillar forms a special sleeping bag called a chrysalis. Inside, it transforms into a beautiful butterfly, ready to fly out and explore the world with its new wings!
