Bustard

Imagine a bird that's as heavy as a big dog and can stand taller than a playground slide! That's a bustard! These amazing birds are the heaviest animals that can still fly. They have long legs and necks, and they love to strut around open grassy places. Some bustards are so big, they look like they're wearing feathery pants! They are truly magnificent creatures of the grasslands.

Bustards are like travelers of the open spaces. They like to live in places with lots of grass, like steppes and savannas. You can find them in parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa. They need wide-open areas to find food and to see if any sneaky animals are trying to surprise them. Think of them as the kings and queens of the grassy plains, ruling over their wide territories.

Bustards are not picky eaters! They love to munch on all sorts of yummy things they find on the ground. This includes tasty insects like beetles and grasshoppers, juicy seeds, and even small plants and flowers. Sometimes, they might even eat a tiny lizard or mouse if they can catch it! They spend a lot of their day walking around, looking for their next delicious meal in the grass.
