Boris Yeltsin

Imagine a very important person who was in charge of a whole country! That was Boris Yeltsin. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1931, in a place called Russia. He grew up and became a leader, like a captain of a big ship. For many years, he was the President of Russia, which is like being the boss of the whole country. He made some really big decisions that changed how Russia worked.

When Boris Yeltsin was young, Russia was part of a big group of countries called the Soviet Union. Everyone had to follow the same rules, and there was only one main political team, like only one color of crayon allowed! Boris was part of that team for a while.

But then, he started to think that maybe other colors of crayons should be allowed too. He wanted people to have more choices. He became super popular for saying this, like a superhero who stands up for what's right!

Boris Yeltsin helped Russia become a new country called the Russian Federation. This was a HUGE change, like turning a playground into a whole city! He wanted Russia to have a different kind of economy, where people could buy and sell things more freely.

But sometimes, big changes can be a little tricky. There were some tough times with money and jobs, and not everyone was happy. It was like trying to build a giant LEGO castle very quickly.

Even though things were sometimes difficult, Boris Yeltsin did a lot. He was the first president that the people of Russia got to vote for themselves! That's a really important step for a country.

He also helped the Soviet Union become separate countries. By the time he finished being president, Russia was a very different place than when he started. He is remembered as a very important person who helped shape modern Russia.
