Bollea v. Gawker

Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Gene Bollea, was a super famous wrestler! He was like a superhero in the ring, with muscles and a big personality. Lots of kids and grown-ups loved watching him wrestle. He was so popular that many people knew his name and his wrestling moves. He was a big star in the world of professional wrestling for many years.

A website called Gawker shared a video that was supposed to be private. This video showed Hulk Hogan. It was like someone sharing your secret diary with everyone at school! Hulk Hogan felt very upset and said it was a big invasion of his privacy. He believed his personal life should stay personal, not be shown to the whole world.

Hulk Hogan decided to take Gawker to court. He asked for a lot of money, like more than 100 million dollars! That's enough money to buy a whole playground full of swings and slides! The court had to decide if Gawker was right to share the video or if Hulk Hogan's privacy was more important. It was a really big legal fight.

After a long time, the jury decided that Gawker was in the wrong. They said Gawker had to pay Hulk Hogan a lot of money, even more than he asked for! It was a huge amount, like a giant pile of coins. Because of this, Gawker had to change a lot of things and sell parts of their company. It showed that sharing private things without permission can have big consequences.
