Biomass (energy)

Biomass energy is like using stuff from plants and animals that were recently alive to make power. Think of wood from trees, leftover bits from farms like straw, or even yucky garbage from homes and factories. It’s like nature’s way of recycling!

The biggest source of this power today is wood. We can burn it directly or squish it into little pellets, like tiny logs for a fireplace. It’s a super cool way to get energy from things that might otherwise just be thrown away.

People have used biomass for a super long time! Way back, our ancestors used wood to start campfires for warmth and cooking. It was their main way to get heat.

Now, we’ve gotten much smarter about it. We still use wood, but we also use special plants grown just for energy, like tall grasses. We’ve also learned to turn farm leftovers and even trash into power.
