Key Facts
Who Were These Special Guests?
Imagine some very important people traveling a long, long way! The Bible tells us about special visitors called the Magi. They came from far away, 'from the east,' to see a baby who was born to be a king.
They brought him amazing gifts: shiny gold, sweet-smelling incense called frankincense, and a special oil called myrrh. These gifts were super valuable and showed they knew this baby was someone extraordinary!
A Journey of Gifts!
These visitors weren't just anyone; they were wise and knew a lot about the stars. They followed a special star that led them right to where the baby king was. When they found him, they were so happy and amazed! They bowed down to him and gave him their precious gifts. It was a very special moment, like finding the best treasure ever!
Why Are They Called 'Wise Men'?
People often call them the 'Three Wise Men' or 'Three Kings.' Even though the Bible doesn't say exactly how many there were or what they looked like, people started imagining them as three kings. This is because they brought three gifts. They were seen as very wise because they understood important things, like the meaning of the special star and the importance of the baby they met.
Stories and Celebrations!
For hundreds of years, people have told stories about these visitors and painted pictures of them. They are a big part of Christmas celebrations, especially in Western countries, where we have a holiday called Epiphany, or 'Three Kings Day.' Itβs a time to remember their journey and the special gifts they brought, reminding us of love and generosity.
