Bethel

Imagine a place that's been around for thousands of years! Bethel is a special spot that's talked about in old stories. It's located in a region called the West Bank, which is not too far from a big city called Jerusalem.

Think of it like being near your school, but much, much older. The land there is probably a bit hilly and might feel warm in the summer, just like some places you might have visited.

Bethel is famous because it's mentioned in very old books, like the Bible. One story says a very important person named Abram camped near here. Later, another person named Jacob had a dream about a ladder reaching all the way to the sky, with angels going up and down! Jacob thought this place was so special, he named it Bethel, which means 'House of God'. It was like finding a secret, holy spot!

Over time, Bethel was like a border town, sitting between two groups of people called tribes. First, it belonged to one tribe, and then another group took it over. Later, people described it as a small village, not too far from Jerusalem.

Today, the old spot where Bethel was is called Beitin. It's a village near the city of Ramallah. There's also a newer town nearby called Beit El, which also uses the ancient name. So, even though it's an old place, its name and stories are still remembered. It's like a historical landmark that people still visit and talk about because of its amazing past!
