Beslan school siege

On September 1, 2004, it was the first day of school in Beslan, Russia. Kids were excited to see their friends and teachers. But suddenly, some very bad people with guns took over the school! They locked everyone inside, and it became a scary situation that lasted for three whole days. It was a very sad time for everyone involved.

The people who took over the school were called terrorists. They wanted to make big changes in Russia. They were angry about something happening in a place called Chechnya. They wanted the leaders of Russia to listen to them. They held over 1,100 people, including 777 children, as hostages. That's more people than can fit on a whole school bus!

After three long days, the police and soldiers had to go into the school to save the people. It was a very dangerous situation. Sadly, many people lost their lives, including 186 children. It was a very, very sad event. This is known as the deadliest school event of its kind in history, which is a very sad fact.

Even though this happened a long time ago, it's important to learn about it. It reminds us how important it is for everyone to be safe, especially at school. It also shows how important it is for people to solve problems without hurting others. We remember the children and grown-ups who were there and hope such a thing never happens again.
