Bernie Parent: The Amazing Goalie!

Imagine a super-strong shield in front of a hockey net! That was Bernie Parent. He was a goalie, which means his job was to stop the other team from scoring goals. He played hockey a long, long time ago, from 1965 to 1979. He was so good that people still talk about him today as one of the best goalies EVER!

Bernie played for a team called the Philadelphia Flyers. In two super-special years, he helped his team win the big championship, called the Stanley Cup, TWICE! He was like a superhero saving the day. He even won special awards for being the best player and the best goalie in those winning years. That's like getting two gold medals for being the best at your sport!

What made Bernie so great? He was super fast and could move his whole body to block shots. He was also very brave, standing in front of fast-moving pucks that could hurt!
