Antonov An-225 Mriya: The Dream Plane!

The Antonov An-225 Mriya was the biggest airplane ever built! Its name, Mriya, means 'dream' in Ukrainian. It was so long it could fit two school buses end-to-end!

This super-plane was designed to carry really, really heavy and big things, like parts for giant windmills or even parts of rockets. It had six engines, which is way more than most planes, and its wings were wider than a basketball court!

This giant plane was built a long, long time ago in the Soviet Union, which was a country that doesn't exist anymore. It was first flown in 1988. The main reason it was built was to carry a special space shuttle called Buran. Think of it like a super-strong truck for space stuff! Only one of these amazing planes was ever finished, and it became famous all over the world for its incredible size.

The An-225 Mriya was special because it could lift more weight than any other plane. It was like a flying superhero for carrying super heavy loads! It once carried a generator that weighed as much as 100 cars! People loved seeing this giant plane fly because it was so unique and could do things other planes only dreamed of. It showed us what amazing things engineers could build.

Sadly, the only An-225 Mriya that was finished was destroyed in a big fight in Ukraine in 2022. It was a very sad day for everyone who loved this incredible plane. But, there's a new dream! Ukraine wants to build another An-225 to replace the one that was lost. This shows that even after something is gone, the idea and the dream can live on and be built again.
