Angara Airlines Flight 2311
Key Facts
Meet the Big Bird!
Imagine a giant metal bird that carries people high up in the sky! That's an airplane. Angara Airlines Flight 2311 was one of these amazing machines.
It was an Antonov An-24RV, a type of plane that looks a bit like a big, sturdy bus with wings. This particular flight was supposed to fly from one Russian town, Ignatyevo Airport, to another, Tynda Airport. It was a regular trip, carrying passengers and crew.
A Tricky Landing Day
On July 24, 2025, the sky was very cloudy and foggy, making it hard to see. The pilot tried to land the plane at Tynda Airport, but it was too difficult because of the poor visibility. They had to try again. Sometimes, when it's hard to see, pilots need to be extra careful and might need to circle around or try a different way to land. This flight had to make a second attempt to land.
Lost in the Trees
Sadly, during that second landing attempt, the plane couldn't quite reach the airport. It ended up crashing in a forest not too far away, about 10 miles from Tynda. It was a very sad day, and everyone on board, all 42 passengers and the 6 crew members, were lost. It's a reminder of how important it is for pilots to have clear skies and good visibility when they fly.
Why We Remember This Flight
This flight is remembered because it shows us that flying, while usually very safe, can sometimes have unexpected challenges. It's a story that reminds us to be thankful for the brave pilots and the amazing technology that helps us travel safely. It also highlights the importance of weather conditions for flying and how even the biggest planes need clear skies to land.
