Amazon River Dolphin

Imagine a super long river, so big it's like a giant blue snake winding through a huge green jungle! That's the Amazon River, and it's home to a very special dolphin. This dolphin isn't like the ones you see in the ocean. It lives in freshwater and is often a beautiful pink color, especially the boys! It's called the Amazon river dolphin, or sometimes the 'boto'.

They send out clicking sounds, and when the sounds bounce off things, they can tell where fish are hiding, even in muddy water where they can't see very well. Amazon river dolphins are super picky eaters, but they eat a lot of different things! They love to munch on fish like catfish and even piranhas. Sometimes, they might also snack on river turtles or little frogs. They have to be good hunters to find all this food in the big river. They are important for keeping the river healthy.
