Who Were the Allies?

The Allies were like a giant team of friends who decided to work together. Their main goal was to stop the Axis powers, who were causing a lot of trouble. The biggest players on the Allied team were the United Kingdom, the United States, the Soviet Union, and China.

Think of them as the captains of the team! Many other countries joined this team too, like Canada, Australia, and even countries far away like the Netherlands and Greece.

When Did They Team Up?

The team started forming when the big fight, World War II, began in 1939. At first, it was mainly the United Kingdom and France. But as the fight got bigger, more countries jumped in to help.

The Soviet Union joined in 1941 after being attacked, and the United States joined later that year after a surprise attack on their ships. It was like a puzzle, with more pieces coming together as the war went on.

Why Did They Fight Together?

These countries decided to team up because they all believed in fairness and wanted to stop the Axis powers from taking over. They wanted to make sure everyone could live peacefully. The United States and the United Kingdom were especially close friends, making big plans together.

They even signed a special paper called the Atlantic Charter, which was like a promise to be good friends and work for peace.

The Super Team's Big Win!

By working together, sharing their soldiers, supplies, and smart ideas, the Allies were able to win the war in 1945! This big win meant that the world could start to rebuild and become a safer place. The ideas they had for working together even helped create a new group called the United Nations, which is still around today, trying to help countries get along.
