Who Was King Alfonso?
Imagine a king named Alfonso VI! He was a super important ruler a long, long time ago. He was the king of not just one, but three places: León, Galicia, and Castile.
That's like being the principal of three different schools all at once! He was known for being very brave, so brave that people called him 'the Brave' or 'the Valiant'. He lived a very long time ago, from around the year 1040 to 1109.
That's almost a thousand years ago!
Alfonso's Big Adventure: Taking Toledo!
One of the most exciting things Alfonso did was conquer a big, important city called Toledo in 1085. This was a huge win! After taking Toledo, he felt like the most victorious king ever, ruling over Toledo, Spain, and Galicia.
It was like winning the biggest prize at the school fair and getting to show it off everywhere! This made his kingdom much bigger and stronger, like adding lots of extra playground space.
