Ajusco

Ajusco is a super tall mountain that looks like a giant, sleepy volcano! It's made of hardened lava, like a giant rock bubble that cooled down. It stands proudly just south of a very big city called Mexico City in Mexico. Even though it looks like a volcano, it's not erupting anymore. It's like a giant, quiet rock that's been there for a very, very long time.

Ajusco is incredibly tall! It reaches up to 3,930 meters, which is almost 13,000 feet high. That's taller than 100 school buses stacked on top of each other! From its very top, you can see all the way to Mexico City. It's the highest spot in the entire city, like the king of all the hills and mountains around.

Because Ajusco is so high, the air gets very cold, especially when it's windy. It's much cooler than down in the city. Sometimes, clouds like fluffy cotton balls float right past its peak. The ground around it is covered in rocks and plants that like cooler weather. It's a wild and beautiful place, far above the busy streets.
