The Big Vote in Belarus!

In Belarus, a country far away, they have a special vote every five years to pick their leader, called the president. It's like choosing the captain of a big team! In 2025, everyone who is old enough got to choose who they wanted to be the president. This is a really important job, like being the principal of a giant school!

There's one president, Alexander Lukashenko, who has been the leader for a very, very long time. He's been president since way back in 1994, even before many grown-ups were born! That's longer than you've been in school, and maybe even longer than your parents have been grown-ups. He won the vote in 2025 too.

In the 2025 vote, there were a few people running to be president. But the president who was already in charge, Alexander Lukashenko, got a LOT of votes. He got more than 87% of all the votes! That's like getting almost all the stars on your report card. Some people said it was like a pretend election because he won so easily.

After the votes are counted, the person with the most votes becomes the president for the next five years. They make big decisions for the country. In this election, even though there were other people running, the president who was already in charge won again. It's important for everyone to have a say, but sometimes the results can be surprising!
