1992 Los Angeles Riots

This story happened a long, long time ago, in the sunny state of California, in a big city called Los Angeles. It's a place with lots of buildings and busy streets. The trouble began in a neighborhood called South Central Los Angeles. Think of it like a neighborhood in your town, but much bigger and with many more people living there.

Something really unfair happened to a man named Rodney King. Someone saw it and took a video with a camera. This video showed police officers being too rough. When a court decided the officers didn't do anything wrong, many people felt very sad and angry. It was like when you feel your friend got treated unfairly, but on a much, much bigger scale!

For six whole days, Los Angeles was very noisy and chaotic. People were upset, and some started breaking things and taking things from stores. It was like a really big, sad party that nobody wanted to be at. To help calm things down, lots of helpers, like soldiers, came to the city to make sure everyone was safe.
