Who Was This Explorer?

Xu Fu was a super-smart explorer and scientist from ancient China, way back in 255 BC! He worked for the Emperor, who was like the king. The Emperor wanted to live forever, so he sent Xu Fu on a very important mission.

Xu Fu was like a detective, but instead of solving mysteries, he was searching for a special drink called the elixir of life. This magical drink was supposed to make people live forever!

Setting Sail for Adventure!

The Emperor told Xu Fu to sail east across the big ocean to find this magical elixir. Xu Fu got a HUGE fleet of ships, like a whole village on the water! There were 60 boats, filled with brave sailors, skilled workers, and even 6,000 young people – 3,000 boys and 3,000 girls!

They also brought along people who knew how to build things and make things. It was like a floating city on a grand adventure!

The Mystery of the Missing Explorer

Xu Fu went on his journey twice. The first time, he probably came back. But on his second trip, around 210 BC, he sailed away and… never returned! Nobody knows for sure what happened to him or his giant fleet. Did they find the elixir? Did they discover new lands? Or did something else happen out on the vast, mysterious sea? It's one of history's biggest puzzles!

Why We Still Talk About Xu Fu

Even though we don't know what happened to Xu Fu, his story is super interesting! It tells us about what people believed a long, long time ago – like the idea of living forever. His journey also makes us wonder about what might be out there, beyond what we can see. It’s a tale of adventure, mystery, and the age-old dream of finding something magical.
