Woody Johnson

Woody Johnson is a super busy businessman who loves sports! He is the owner of a famous American football team called the New York Jets. Imagine owning a team like you own your favorite toys, but way, way bigger! He also used to be like a special helper for the President of the United States in a faraway country called the United Kingdom. That's a lot of important jobs!

Woody Johnson comes from a very rich family. His great-grandfather helped start a company that makes medicines and bandages, called Johnson & Johnson. That means Woody grew up with a lot of money, like finding a treasure chest! In the year 2000, he and his brother bought the New York Jets football team. It cost a lot of money, more than a thousand school buses stacked up!

For a few years, Woody Johnson lived in England and was the United States Ambassador. This is like being the President's main friend in another country. He lived in a fancy house and helped make sure the United States and the United Kingdom were good friends. While he was there, big changes happened in England, like when they decided to leave a big group of countries called the European Union.

When Woody Johnson came back from England, he jumped right back into owning the New York Jets. He even helped get a super famous football player named Aaron Rodgers to join the team! He also tried to buy a soccer team in England called Chelsea, and he recently bought a part of another soccer team called Crystal Palace. He really loves sports, both in America and across the ocean!
