William of Ockham: The Thinker Who Loved Simplicity!

Imagine a super-smart person from over 700 years ago! That was William of Ockham. He was a friar, which meant he was part of a religious group, and he loved to think and write about big ideas. He was born in a small village called Ockham in England. He became one of the most important thinkers of his time, like a rockstar of ideas in the 1300s!

William is most famous for something called 'Ockham's Razor.' It's not a real razor you shave with! It's a rule that says, when you have lots of ideas about why something happened, the simplest idea is usually the best one. Think about finding a lost toy. Is it more likely hiding under your bed, or did a friendly dragon borrow it? Ockham's Razor says the bed is the simpler, more likely answer!

Besides his famous rule, William wrote tons of books about all sorts of things. He thought deeply about how we learn, how the world works, and what is true.
