Meet Lord William!

William de Ros was a very important man a long, long time ago, around the year 1370! He was like a super-important boss, called a Baron, who owned lots of land and castles. He was part of a noble family, which meant they were special and had a lot of power. William had to be brave because he lived in a time when kings and lords often argued and even fought!

A King's Big Change!

One day, the King, Richard II, took away his cousin Henry's land. Henry was very angry and decided to come back to England with an army! William de Ros was smart and saw that Henry was going to win. So, William joined Henry's side! When Henry became the new King Henry IV, William was rewarded for his loyalty. He became a trusted friend and advisor to the new king.

Helping the King and the Kingdom

William was a great helper to King Henry IV. He spoke for the king in important meetings called Parliament. He even went with the king to fight in Scotland! Sometimes, kings didn't have enough money, so William, who was rich, would lend them money. He was like a superhero helping the king keep everything running smoothly. He also had to deal with arguments over land with his neighbors.

A Wise Lord

Even though William was involved in big arguments and helped change kings, he was also known for being wise. When he had a problem with a neighbor, he didn't get too angry or try to punish them too harshly. A historian later said he was a very good and patient person for his time. He died in a castle called Belvoir Castle in 1414.
