Where Did Wilhelm Rule?

Wilhelm I was a king in a land called Germany. Imagine a big country in Europe, like a giant puzzle made of many smaller pieces. Before Wilhelm, these pieces were mostly separate kingdoms and states.

He ruled over Prussia, which was a very important piece of that puzzle. Germany itself is a place with big forests, rolling hills, and long rivers like the Rhine. The weather can be cold in winter with snow, and warm in summer, perfect for playing outside!

Becoming the Big Boss!

Wilhelm wasn't always an emperor. He was born a prince and later became the King of Prussia. Prussia was a powerful kingdom.

Wilhelm and his clever advisor, Otto von Bismarck, worked hard to bring all the German states together. It was like convincing all your friends to play one big game together! In 1871, after some important events, Wilhelm was declared the first German Emperor.

This made him the leader of a brand new, united Germany!

What Did Wilhelm Do?

As King and then Emperor, Wilhelm was a busy leader. He helped build up the army to make Germany strong. He also supported building new things like railways, which are like super-fast roads for trains.

These trains helped people and goods travel all over the country. He was known for being a soldier-king, always thinking about how to protect and grow his country. He wanted Germany to be a respected and powerful place in the world.

A King's Life

Wilhelm I was born a long, long time ago, in 1797. He lived to be quite old for his time, passing away in 1888. He was married to Augusta, and they had children. He loved his country and spent most of his life working to make it better. He was a symbol of Germany's new beginning as a united nation. His reign marked a very important time in history for Germany and Europe.
