Where Do These Big Guys Live?

Western moose are like forest explorers! They love to hang out in cool, shady places called boreal forests and mixed forests. Think of forests with lots of pine trees and trees that lose their leaves in the fall.

They can be found way up north in the Canadian Arctic and in the western parts of Canada. Sometimes, they even wander into the northern United States! It's like they have their own special neighborhoods in the woods.

Super-Sized Moose!

Western moose are HUGE! They are the second-biggest moose in North America, almost as big as the Alaskan moose. Imagine an animal that's taller than a giraffe and longer than a school bus!

That's how big these creatures can get. They have long legs to help them walk through deep snow and big, floppy ears to hear everything around them. Their antlers, which only the boy moose have, can be super wide!

Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

Even though Western moose are so big, they have some big animals that like to eat them. Timber wolves and bears are their main predators. This means the moose have to be very careful and stay alert in the forest. They also have to watch out for each other, especially during autumn and winter when the boy moose get a little grumpy and might even fight!

Moose Superpowers!

Western moose have some amazing abilities. Their long legs help them wade through deep snow and water, which is super useful in their forest homes. They are also very good at hiding, even though they are so big! When they need to, they can move surprisingly quietly through the trees. Their big noses help them smell yummy plants to eat from far away.
