Wellington Arch

Imagine a huge stone archway standing tall in the middle of a busy London corner! This is Wellington Arch, also called the Constitution Arch. It's like a big stone doorway that doesn't lead anywhere, but it looks super grand. It was built a long, long time ago, between 1826 and 1830. Think of it as a giant sculpture made of stone, standing proudly for everyone to see.

This arch wasn't always in its current spot! It was first built a little bit to the east, right across from a fancy entrance to Hyde Park. But in 1882, they moved it to where it is now, at the top of a road called Constitution Hill. It's like moving your LEGO castle to a new spot on your desk. It was moved to make way for new roads and to be a grand centerpiece.

The most exciting part is what's on top of Wellington Arch! At first, there was a giant statue of a famous soldier named the Duke of Wellington riding a horse. But now, there's something even cooler! It's a statue of the Goddess of Victory, named Nike, riding a four-horse chariot. This statue is so big, it's like having a race car on top of a tall building!
