From Trains to Trails: A Big Change!

This trail used to be a busy railroad track! The trains stopped running a long, long time ago because fewer people were riding them, and other faster ways to travel were invented. The land was just sitting there until people decided to turn it into something awesome.

In 1985, two towns bought the land and started making it into a trail. It took a while, but by 2009, the whole trail was paved, making it smooth and easy for everyone to enjoy!

Why This Trail is Super Cool!

This trail is important because it gives us a safe place to play and explore outside. Instead of cars zooming by, you can enjoy the fresh air and see trees and maybe even some animals! It’s also a way to remember the past when trains were a big deal.

Plus, it connects two towns, making it easy for people to visit each other or just have a beautiful place to exercise and have fun. It’s like a green highway for fun!

What You Can Do on the Trail!

The Walden–Wallkill Rail Trail is perfect for all sorts of adventures! You can ride your bike super fast, or take a leisurely stroll. It's also great for rollerblading or even walking your dog (on a leash, of course!).
