W. H. Auden

Imagine a person who could paint pictures with words! That was W. H.

Auden. He was a poet, which means he wrote poems. His poems were like secret messages about how people felt, what they thought about the world, and even about love and friendship.

He was born a long, long time ago in England and grew up to be a very famous writer whose words are still read today. He loved playing with language and making it sound just right, like a musician plays notes.

W. H. Auden lived in England and went to special schools.

He loved to read and learn, and he studied at a famous university called Oxford. After school, he even taught other students! Later, he moved across the ocean to America.

He lived in both countries and wrote about all the things he saw and felt. Sometimes his poems were about big, important things happening in the world, and sometimes they were about quiet feelings in his heart.

Auden's poems are special because they talk about everything! He wrote about love, like a warm hug, and also about sad things, like when friends argue. He wrote poems that made people think about fairness and what's right and wrong.

One of his most famous poems, called 'Funeral Blues,' is about feeling very sad when someone you love is gone. It's so powerful that people still read it when they need to express deep feelings. He could make words do amazing things!
