Meet the Giant Mountains!

The Venezuelan Andes are like a super long, bumpy backbone for Venezuela! They are actually the very top part of the HUGE Andes mountain range that goes all the way down South America. In Venezuela, these mountains split into two main parts: one is called Sierra de Perijá, and the other, much bigger one, is the Cordillera de Mérida.

This is where Venezuela's tallest peak stands proud, reaching way, way up high!

What's It Like Up There?

Imagine being so high up that clouds float around you like fluffy cotton candy! The Venezuelan Andes have different kinds of weather. Some parts are cool and misty, perfect for growing special plants. Other parts might be a bit drier. The land is bumpy and rocky, with steep slopes and deep valleys. It's a wild and beautiful place, very different from flat playgrounds.

Home to Amazing Nature!

These mountains are like a secret hideout for lots of plants and animals! Because the mountains are so tall and have different climates, many unique creatures live here. You might find colorful birds, fuzzy mammals, and plants that only grow in these special mountain homes. It's a treasure chest of nature's wonders, with the highest point in all of Venezuela waiting to be discovered!

People Who Live in the Mountains

People have lived in the Venezuelan Andes for a very long time. They build their homes and towns on the sides of these giant mountains. Life can be a bit different here because of the steep land and cooler weather. People work hard, often growing food or raising animals. They have their own special traditions and ways of living that make their mountain communities unique and interesting.
