Vapor: The Invisible Gas!

Imagine water taking a vacation from being a liquid! Vapor is what happens when water gets so warm it turns into a gas. It's invisible, like air, so you can't see it. Think about steam coming from a hot cup of cocoa or a boiling pot of water – that's vapor! It's all around us, even when we don't see it, like in the air we breathe.

Vapor is made when things get hot! When the sun shines on puddles, lakes, or oceans, it warms the water up. This makes some of the water turn into vapor and float up into the sky. This is called evaporation. It's like the water is getting a warm hug and turning into a gas. This vapor then helps make clouds!

Vapor is super important for our planet. It helps move water all around the world! When water turns into vapor, it can travel high up into the sky. Then, when it gets cold, it turns back into tiny water droplets or ice crystals to make clouds. These clouds can then bring rain or snow, giving us fresh water to drink and helping plants grow.

You see vapor in action more than you think! When you breathe out on a cold day, you see a little puff of vapor from your breath. It's your warm, moist breath meeting the cold air. Also, when clothes dry on a line, the water turns into vapor and floats away. So, vapor is a busy helper, always changing and moving water!
