Meet the Awesome Âu Lạc!

Âu Lạc was a kingdom that existed a super long time ago, even before your grandparents' grandparents were born! It was like a special club formed by two groups, the Âu Việt and the Lạc Việt. They joined together to make one big, strong kingdom.

It was located in a place that is now part of China and Vietnam. Think of it like two best friends deciding to start a club together to have more fun and be stronger!

King Thục Phán's Big Idea!

The king who started Âu Lạc was named Thục Phán. He was also called King An Dương. He had a really amazing idea to bring the Âu Việt and Lạc Việt people together. This happened way back in 257 BCE. It was a bit like when different groups of kids on the playground decide to play together and make one giant, super-fun game. This new kingdom, Âu Lạc, was a big deal!

Cổ Loa: A Capital City Like No Other!

The capital city of Âu Lạc was called Cổ Loa. Today, Cổ Loa is part of a big city called Hanoi in Vietnam. This city was super important because it was where the king lived and important decisions were made. It was a place where people came together from all over the kingdom. Imagine a giant castle that was the center of everything, where everyone knew they could find their leader!

When Âu Lạc Met Nanyue

Sadly, Âu Lạc didn't last forever. Another powerful place called Nanyue came along and took over. This happened in 179 BCE.

It's a bit like when a bigger, stronger kid on the playground asks to join your game, and then ends up being in charge. But the story doesn't end there, because Nanyue was later conquered by an even bigger group called the Han dynasty. So, Âu Lạc was a part of a big, changing history!
