Meet the Twelvers!

Twelver Shi'ism is the biggest family within Shia Islam, like the most popular kid on the playground! About 85 out of every 100 Shia Muslims are Twelvers. They believe in 12 special leaders, called Imams, who were chosen by God to guide everyone. These Imams are super important, like superheroes with special knowledge to help people understand the world and be good.

The Story of the Twelve Imams

The Twelvers believe that after the Prophet Muhammad, there were 12 Imams who were his rightful successors. The very last Imam, named Muhammad al-Mahdi, is believed to be alive but hidden from us right now. He's like a secret agent waiting for the perfect moment to return with Jesus to make the whole world fair and peaceful. It's a really hopeful idea!

Why They're So Special

Twelvers think these 12 Imams were perfect and never made mistakes, like having a super-powered shield against doing wrong. They had special wisdom to explain the Quran, the holy book, and show everyone how to live. Their words and actions are like a treasure map for Muslims to follow, helping them be kind and just.

Where Do Twelvers Live?

Lots of people who are Twelvers live in countries like Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon. Imagine a whole country where this is the main way people practice Islam, like how everyone in your town might go to the same school! There are also many Twelvers living in places like India and Pakistan, making them a big global community.
