Troubadour

Once upon a time, long, long ago, there were special performers called troubadours. They were like poets and musicians all rolled into one! They traveled around, singing songs and telling stories. Troubadours started in a place called Occitania, which is in a country called France today. This was a very long time ago, between the years 1100 and 1350. It was like a super popular trend that everyone wanted to join in on!

Troubadours sang about all sorts of things. Sometimes it was about brave knights doing heroic deeds, or about people falling in love. Other times, their songs were funny or even a little bit silly, making fun of things! They had different ways of singing, too. Some songs were light and happy, others were more serious and thoughtful. It was like having different kinds of music for different moods.

Troubadours were super important because they were some of the first people to write and sing poems in their everyday language, not just fancy Latin.
