Where Are These Green Jungles?

Tropical forests are like giant, warm, and wet blankets wrapped around the middle of our Earth! They are found near the Equator, which is an imaginary line that goes all the way around our planet. Think of places like the Amazon in South America, the Congo in Africa, and forests in Southeast Asia.

These places get lots and lots of sunshine and rain all year long, making them perfect for growing all sorts of amazing plants and trees.

Who Lives in the Rainforest?

These forests are bursting with life! You can find colorful birds like parrots, playful monkeys swinging through the trees, and even big cats like jaguars. There are also tiny, busy insects, slithery snakes, and frogs that look like jewels. The trees are so tall, some can be as high as a 10-story building! It's like a giant playground for animals, with so many places to hide, climb, and explore.

Why Are They So Important?

Tropical forests are super important for our whole planet! They are like the lungs of the Earth, breathing in a gas called carbon dioxide that we breathe out, and breathing out fresh oxygen for us to breathe in. They also help control the weather by making rain and keeping the air cool.

Plus, many of the medicines we use to get better when we're sick come from plants found in these amazing forests!

Rainforests Need Our Help!

Sadly, these incredible places are in danger. Sometimes, people cut down too many trees for farming or building. This makes it hard for the animals to live and for the forest to do its important job of making oxygen. It's like taking away their homes! We need to be careful and protect these special forests so they can keep growing and supporting life for a long, long time.
