Meet the Tallest Tower!

Tour Saint-Jacques is a super tall tower in Paris, France. It’s 52 meters high, which is like stacking 15 school buses on top of each other! This tower is all that's left of a giant church that was there a long, long time ago.

The church was called Saint-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie, which means Saint James of the Meat Market. Imagine a busy market where people sold meat, and right next to it was a huge church with this amazing tower!

A Tower's Amazing Story

This tower is very old, built in the 1500s. It’s made in a style called Flamboyant Gothic, which means it looks like it has fancy, wavy flames carved into it. Sadly, during a time called the French Revolution, the big church was taken down, and people used its stones for other buildings.

But they decided to keep the tower because it was so special. It stands proudly today, reminding us of what used to be there.

Why We Still Love This Tower!

Even though the church is gone, the tower is still super important. It’s a national historic landmark, which means it’s protected and everyone knows it’s a treasure. It’s a beautiful piece of history that shows us what buildings looked like hundreds of years ago. People visit Paris from all over the world just to see this amazing tower and learn about its past.

What's Inside (and Around!)

You can't usually go inside the tower, but you can see it from the outside. It stands at a busy spot in Paris, where two streets meet. It’s a reminder that even when things change, like a big church being gone, some parts of history can still stand tall and tell their stories. It’s like a giant stone storyteller in the middle of a busy city!
